Ask anyone in Dallas where to find the Central Business District (CBD) and they’ll tell you to head downtown. The bustling downtown area of Dallas, Texas has in recent years, morphed itself into the largest employment center in all of North Texas. Fast becoming one of the biggest legal, insurance and financial centers in the U.S., Dallas’ Central Business District is home to many high profile corporations, including AT&T, Comerica Bank, Belo, Corgan Associates, Hunt Oil, Neiman Marcus, Oncor, Tenet Healthcare, 7-Eleven and many more. Located at 208 South Akard Street, Whitacre Tower is a 37-story, 580 foot tall high-rise currently occupied by U.S. phone giant AT&T. Built in 1984, Whitacre Tower (also known as One AT&T Plaza) is the 13th tallest building in the city and features over 1,000,000 square feet of office space. Another prominent skyscraper in the Dallas’ Central Business District is the Comerica Bank Tower. Home to American financial services company, Comerica, the Comerica Bank Tower is a 60-story postmodern skyscraper found at 1717 Main Street. Designed by Philip Johnson and John Burgee, the tower was completed in 1987 and offers 1,500,000 square feet of corporate office space. It’s estimated that over 110,000 employees work within a one mile radius of the Central Business District, with that number expected to grow as more company’s move into the city center.
