East Village is a neighborhood that is located north of the Lower East Side of Manhattan. The East Village neighborhood is known for its diverse community, vibrant nightlife and artistic sensibility. Many of the apartment renters are college graduates and because of this the bar scene is large in this neighborhood. East Village has one of the highest concentrations of bars in the city and could be ideal for people who want to relieve after a long day at the office. East Village is also known as the birthplace of punk rock and the Nuyorican literary movement. This Manhattan neighborhood is known as the home of many historical artistic movements. East Village is home to many buildings that are owned and maintained by New York University. Many of the buildings are now dormitories for undergraduate students enrolled in New York University. Additionally, another selective college is located in the East Village. Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art is located in East Village. Like many other neighborhoods in Manhattan, East Village has a couple of parks located nearby. Tompkins Square Park and East River Park are located nearby if individuals would like to spend time away from the hustle and bustle of New York City. East Village is great for businesses looking for office space with many attractions nearby, either for business purposes or just to take a small break. The East Village is also home to many smaller vibrant communities. The smaller communities are Alphabet City, Loisaida, St. Marks Place and the Bowery.
