Frost Bank Tower is the tallest office building in Austin, TX. When originally opened, it was the tallest building of any variety in [Austin](http://www.thesquarefoot.com/austin/) however two residential buildings (The Austonian and the 360 Condominiums) have been built since making Frost Bank Tower the third tallest building overall now. Located in [Downtown Austin](http://www.thesquarefoot.com/tx/austin/downtown-austin-office-space), Frost Bank Tower is 515 feet tall covering 535,078 square feet on 33 floors. The Class A office building was developed by Cousins Properties from November 2001 to December 2003. Frost Bank Tower was the first high-rise building to begin construction in America following the September 11th terrorist attacks. Four Frost Bank logo signs--each measuring 20 feet in diameter--were added above the main roof. At 420 feet high, the signs are the highest signs on a skyscraper in Austin. Frost National Bank’s Austin headquarters and insurance division are in the building. Other tenants include Morgan Stanley, Ernst & Young, and the University of Texas Investment Management Company (UTIMCO). The Frost Bank Tower is one of only two buildings in the world covered with blue low-e glass skin, the other is the Reuters Building in [New York City] (www.thesquarefoot.com/new-york-city/) Over 200,000 square feet of glass was used for the facade of the Frost Bank Tower. An additional 45,000 square feet (more than an acre) of glass was used in the crown. Materials for the crown alone cost $1.5 million. Lighting covers the crown, where a section of the building 150 ft lights up. The lights change color for special occasions such as the Texas Longhorns National Championship 2006 Rose Bowl win over the USC Trojans.
